Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have rescued 10 National Examinations Council candidates and teachers who were kidnapped by suspected Islamic State West Africa Province terrorists following an attack on a secondary school in Borno State.
Security sources said the incident occurred at about 9:00 a.m. on Monday when armed insurgents stormed the Technical Secondary School in Lassa Community, Askira/Uba Local Government Area. The attack took place while students were writing their NECO examination, causing panic as the assailants seized several candidates and teachers before fleeing into the surrounding bush.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that troops of Operation Hadin Kai subsequently launched a rescue mission, which resulted in the safe recovery of 10 of the abducted victims, according to Daily Post.
The sources said efforts were ongoing to locate and rescue any remaining victims, while security operations continue in the area.
