Troops neutralize bandits, recover arms in Kaduna

The 1 Division Nigerian Army announced on Wednesday that its troops have neutralized a bandit and seized arms and ammunition in Sabon Birni, Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Acting Deputy Director of Public Relations, Lt-Col Musa Yahaya, shared details of the incident, stating, “On Dec. 17, troops ambushed some bandits in the area, resulting in the neutralization of one bandit.”

During the operation, the troops managed to recover valuable items from the bandits.

The recovered items include “one AK 47 rifle and magazine loaded with 15 of 7.62mm (special) ammunition, a Baofeng radio, and two phones.”

This successful encounter demonstrated the effectiveness of the military’s efforts to combat criminal elements in the region.

In a separate operation along Dende-Buruku Road in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Dec 15, troops engaged bandits in an ambush.

While several bandits escaped with gunshot wounds, the troops managed to seize additional weapons.

Yahaya reported, “During the operation, several bandits escaped with gunshot wounds, while troops recovered an AK 47 rifle and an AK 47 rifle magazine loaded with four 7.62mm (special) ammunition.”

The General Officer Commanding the Division, Maj-Gen Valentine Okoro, who also serves as the Force Commander for Operation WHIRL PUNCH, commended the troops for their resilience and urged them to continue their efforts to deny criminals the freedom to carry out their activities.
