Nigerian troops have killed eight notorious terrorists and rescued 16 kidnapped victims during recent military operations across the country.

The Nigerian Army shared this update on Monday through a post on its official X-Handle.

The army reported that on September 22, troops stopped a group of terrorists attempting to raid villages in Borno State. In the clash, three of the attackers were killed, and the soldiers recovered a range of weapons, including a light machine gun, an AK-47 rifle, hand grenades, and ammunition.

The army also shared that troops successfully rescued 16 hostages from terrorists in Gwoza Local Government Area. “Despite heavy rainfall, the troops went after the terrorists and eliminated one of them, forcing the others to flee, leaving behind 16 hostages,” the army stated. The rescued individuals included 10 men and six women.

In another operation in Yobe State, troops ambushed a group of terrorists receiving supplies from collaborators. “This led to the neutralization of four terrorists in Madza and Azare villages,” the army reported. The soldiers recovered two AK-47 rifles, magazines, and other items.

In addition, the army revealed that in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), security forces carried out stop-and-search operations in Abuja. During this operation, they arrested a suspect in possession of 178 rounds of ammunition hidden in a bag of flour.

The army concluded, “All these efforts underscore the Nigerian Army’s unflinching dedication to wiping out terrorism, insurgency, and sundry crimes. The public is encouraged to keep sharing tips and useful information with security forces for prompt action.”
