Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have killed 16 insurgents, rescued 11 hostages, and arrested suspected terrorist drug suppliers in Borno State.

The Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Northeast Operation Hadin Kai, Lt. Col. Sanni Uba, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.

He said the 16 terrorists were neutralized on February 9 when troops, alongside the Civilian Joint Task Force, launched a counter-offensive along the Komala axis in Konduga Local Government. This followed a failed attack by ISWAP terrorists on a military base in Auno on February 5.

“Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI have once again demonstrated exceptional resolve and operational superiority by swiftly repelling an ISWAP attack, and launching a devastating follow-on counter-offensive,” Uba stated.

He explained that after repelling the initial assault, troops engaged retreating terrorists up to the Gidan Kaji axis, “neutralising sixteen (16) terrorists, forcing scores to flee in disarray with severe injuries.”

The troops recovered over twenty bicycles, a cache of weapons, and other logistical supplies.

In a separate operation on the same day, troops arrested suspected ISWAP logistics suppliers conveying a large quantity of drugs meant for terrorists around the Bukarti axis.

Troops also foiled a kidnap attempt along the Buratai-Kamuya road, rescuing two victims, Mallam Idris Adamu and Mallam Muhammadu Safiyanu, and reuniting them with their families.

Additionally, in response to a distress call along the Chibok-Damboa axis, troops rescued nine kidnapped victims.

Uba stated that these actions underscore Operation Hadin Kai’s commitment to protecting civilians and supporting humanitarian efforts in the Northeast.
