Troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke, have made significant gains in the ongoing Operation Lafiya Nakowa, aimed at flushing out terrorists, bandits, and other criminal groups from Taraba State.
According to a statement released on Wednesday in Jalingo by the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Lt. Umar Muhammad, troops were deployed to Tapga Ngasawa village in Dampar District, Ibi Local Government Area, and carried out a clearance mission on 14 October 2025. The operation specifically targeted suspected terrorist camps in Badekoshi, Fajul, Kurmi, and Dampar villages.
At Badekoshi, the troops reportedly encountered armed elements, prompting a confrontation. The suspects fled toward Fajul village near the forest, but were pursued by soldiers.
“The soldiers pursued the fleeing suspects with superior firepower, dislodging them from their positions,” the army said.
A subsequent search of the area led to the recovery of various items, including one AK-47 rifle, one AK-47 magazine, one round of 7.62mm special ammunition, five rounds of blank ammunition, two fragmental jackets, two military camouflage uniforms, and one Jincheng motorcycle believed to have been stolen during a previous attack on Tapga village.
Commander of the 6 Brigade and Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, praised the troops for their professionalism and determination. He encouraged them to sustain the tempo until all criminal threats are neutralized in the state.
The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to protecting law-abiding citizens and emphasized its continued collaboration with other security agencies and local communities to restore lasting peace in the region.
