Troops have been deployed in Borno State on Wednesday after members of the Islamic State West Africa Province struck again.
The insurgents attacked the hometown of the Deputy Speaker of the Borno State House of Assembly, Abddullahi Musa Askira.
The terrorists, according to a report by PRNigeria, first disguised as visitors before launching the attack a source mentioned.
The source said, “After realising that soldiers were not within the vicinity, they started shooting into the air, destroying structures on sight.”
Houses and a block of classrooms were among properties destroyed.
The military has deployed troops in the area.
This week, ISWAP abducted Mohammed Askira and two brothers.
The trio are brothers to the Emir of Askira, Abdullahi Mohammed Askirama II.
