Tribunal throws out ADC petition against Gombe gov Yahaya
The Gombe State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal has struck out the petition filed by the African Democratic Congress, challenging the victory of Governor Inuwa Yahaya and his Deputy Manassah Daniel of the All Progressives Congress.
The tribunal struck out the case, noting that it was a pre-election matter and that the deputy had met the minimum certificate requirement to run the election.
ADC had challenged the declaration and return of Yahaya over alleged multiplicity and variations in the arrangement of names on the certificates of his deputy, without accompanying affidavits, saying that their ticket was rendered invalid.
The party also alleged cases of corrupt practices and massive vote buying during the election.
However, the Tribunal struck out these allegations, noting that they all lack of proof.
