Transcorp, DMO, MTN Nigeria win top NGX awards

Transnational Corporation Plc, the Debt Management Office, and MTN Nigeria Communications were among the big winners at the 2025 “Made of Africa Awards” hosted by the Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX Group).

The awards, announced on Thursday, recognize institutions and individuals driving excellence and performance across Nigeria’s capital markets, honoring brokers, issuing houses, trustees, fund managers, and listed companies for their value delivery, compliance, and market impact.

NGX Group Chairman, Umaru Kwairanga, said the awards highlight the critical role of market stakeholders in strengthening investor confidence and elevating market standards. “Their achievements set a benchmark for performance, integrity and innovation across the capital market,” he stated.

The Group Managing Director/CEO, Temi Popoola, emphasized the importance of collaboration, noting, “Operational efficiency and cooperation across the ecosystem are increasingly important as trading activity diversifies and investor expectations continue to rise.”

From a regulatory perspective, the Executive Commissioner of Operations at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Bola Ajomale, said the awards reinforce the value of compliance and transparency. “When operators demonstrate accountability and professionalism, it strengthens investor confidence, ensures market integrity, and supports sustainable growth,” Ajomale added.

Award recipients included:

  • CardinalStone Securities – Equity Trader of the Year and Broker of the Year.
  • Chapel Hill Denham – Fund Manager with the largest listed fund size and highest value of foreign portfolio investment transactions.
  • Transnational Corporation Plc – Capital Market Excellence in Equity.
  • Dangote Cement – Best Issuer in Fixed Income Listings.
  • BUA Cement – Most Compliant Listed Company.
  • Debt Management Office (DMO) – Special Recognition for Fixed Income Market Development.
  • MTN Nigeria Communications was also among the distinguished winners.

Other notable winners were First Trustees Limited, Legend Internet Plc, Capital Express Securities, Stanbic IBTC Stockbrokers, and United Capital Securities.

The awards come as NGX Group intensifies efforts to broaden market participation and deepen liquidity across Nigeria’s equity and fixed income segments.
