Five people, including a young girl, have died in a road accident that happened on Saturday morning, April 19, 2025, along the Ife–Ilesa road near DUSBIN in Osun State.

The crash involved a white Toyota Hilux with registration number FKJ691HZ and a white trailer with no plate number.

The Federal Road Safety Corps confirmed that the trailer was driving against traffic (one-way), which caused the accident around 10:15am.

According to the Osun Sector Command of the FRSC, nine people were in the crash — six male adults, two female adults, and one female child.

In a statement, the FRSC’s Public Enlightenment Officer, Agnes Ogungbemi, said, “Five victims – three male adults, one female adult, and one female child – were confirmed dead at the scene.”

She added, “One female adult was injured and taken to Mayowa Hospital, Ipetumodu, for treatment.”

Ogungbemi, speaking on behalf of the Sector Commander, Corps Commander T. A. Sokunbi, said the trailer driver has been arrested and is now in police custody. “He will be charged in court. The crash happened because the trailer driver violated traffic rules by driving one-way,” she said.

Items recovered from the crash site include a small bag with jewellery, bags of clothes, and N508,900 in cash. These were handed over to the victims’ family members who arrived at the scene.

The dead bodies have been deposited at the mortuary of the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, while the vehicles involved have been taken by the police at Edun-Abun Division.

The FRSC reminded all drivers to obey traffic rules to avoid further loss of lives.
