Nollywood actor, Gbenga Akintunde, better known as Burger, has died after a brief illness.
The deceased reportedly went to the hospital to complain of malaria on Thursday but sadly died afterwards.
His death was announced by his colleague, Kunle Afod, on his Instagram page.
Afod also revealed that Akintunde recently called him to ask if he was going to hold a new year party.
The filmmaker wrote:
“You called yesterday to confirm if I will still be holding my new year party today and I was called this afternoon that you are no more.
“Heard u went to the hospital to complain about malaria this afternoon and in few hours u are in the mortuary. This is so sad.
“Planning to celebrate you in a few days time …imagine the shock and tears.”
However, an official statement has not been released by his family but tributes have begun to pour in for the deceased.
Burger’s death is sadly the first recorded death in the entertainment industry for 2019.
Until his death, he was the Lagos State Chairman of the Sustainable National Party.
The last Nollywood actor who died in 2018 was Yoruba Nollywood actor, Ajimajasan.
