Landlord’s daughter allegedly stabs tenant over fetching water from well in Lagos

The Oyo State Fire Services Agency has confirmed the recovery of the body of a two-year-old girl who tragically fell into a deep well at Orita Mokola Junction in the Seedu Sabarumu area of Sango, under Saki Local Government Area.

The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon and was promptly reported to the Saki Zonal Fire Station by a concerned resident, who arrived at exactly 1:43 p.m. to request urgent assistance.

Special Adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde on Fire Services Agency Reform, Maroof Akinwande, confirmed the development in a statement released to journalists in Ibadan.

“Upon receiving the distress call, our officers, led by PFS11 Saka, were immediately deployed to the location,” Akinwande said.

“When they arrived, they were informed that a little girl had fallen into the well.”

He explained that a firefighter descended into the well using the appropriate rescue equipment and successfully recovered the child’s lifeless body.

The remains were then handed over to the Nigeria Police, led by CSP Odunbanjo Kehinde, for further investigation and appropriate action.

While the specific circumstances surrounding the incident remain unknown, Akinwande noted that a Post-Incident Investigation Team has been dispatched to the location to examine the cause of the tragedy.

He also issued a safety advisory to the public, emphasizing the importance of securing open spaces.

“We strongly advise the public to always cover wells and septic pits adequately,” he stated. “Unsecured openings like these can easily become death traps, especially for children.”
