A traffic police officer was killed early Tuesday following an explosion near a railway station in Moscow, Russia’s Interior Ministry confirmed.
According to the ministry, an unidentified individual set off an explosive device close to a traffic police vehicle stationed outside Savyolovsky Station.
“During an inspection of the scene in the square near Savyolovsky Station and a review of CCTV footage, police officers determined that the perpetrator died at the scene,” the ministry was quoted as saying by the Russian news agency TASS.
Two additional traffic police officers sustained injuries in the blast, authorities said.
