Tottenham Hotspur’s striker, Son Heung-min, has surpassed his season’s best for goals in a season after netting in the 3-1 defeat to Leeds United on Saturday.

The South Korean star surpassed his record of four years, which he set by scoring 21 goals in the 2016-17 Premier League season, by scoring his 22nd goal of the season in all competitions.

Son, 28, made the most of a sublime pass from Dele Alli to net Spur’s 25th-minute equalizer in a 3-1 loss at Elland Road.

The goal, his 17th in the Premier League this season, takes him ahead of Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes (16) to rank third on the goal scorer’s chart for the season.

He is also in contention for the most assist by a player this season, with 10 assists so far, three behind his teammate, Harry Kane, who leads the chart as well as the goal scorer’s table with 21 goals.

Son has also scored one goal in the League Cup, and four goals in the UEFA Europa League to complete his tally of 22 in all competitions of far this season.

Tottenham have three more matches to go in the league as they look to secure a Champions League spot and Son could also extend his goals tally to set a new record.
