UNIPORT 100L student commits suicide

A female student at the University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State has reportedly died after consuming poison at the weekend.

According to various online reports, Hikmat Gbadamosi, a 100 Level Chemical Engineering student had been battling a medical condition since birth and the resulting pain sent her into depression.

It was gathered that the 18-year-old was found dead in her room in Aluu, one of the host communities of UNIPORT with bottles of insecticide, Sniper.

Reports claim Gbadamosi consumed two bottles of a poisonous insecticide called SNIPER on Saturday and was only discovered on Monday after her bestie mobilized classmates to her room to know why she didn’t show up in school for a test they had the previous day.

On getting to her room, they saw her door locked and peeped through the window – only to see the girl lying dead. An alarm was raised and people gathered to break the door.

Her body has been evacuated while the Rivers State Police Command, as well as the management of the University of Port Harcourt, are yet to comment on the incident.
