TOMBIA ROUNDABOUT! Two taxi drivers allegedly rape 22-year-old girl in Bayelsa

The Bayelsa State Police Command have arrested two men for allegedly raping a 22-year-old female.

Policemen had arrested Nathan Ogbara, 33, and Justin Amos, 32, both commercial taxi operators in Yenagoa, on Easter Sunday after they were alerted that “a young girl was sexually assaulted” at Kpansia area of the state capital.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the command, DSP Asinim Butswat, in a statement said the two men also stole the mobile phone of their victim.

He said,

The victim, ‘names withheld’ ‘f’ 22 years, reported that she contacted one Nathan Ogbara, ‘m’ 33 years, a taxi driver, to drop her at her house at Agudama-Epie, after she participated in a dance competition at Bolex Car Wash.

“The suspect called one Justin Amos, ‘m’ 32 years, also a taxi driver, to join him. Along the road, opposite Jubilee Hotel, the suspects parked their cars and dragged the girl to a nearby bush and raped her.

“They took her GSM phone and zoomed off towards Tombia roundabout.

“Consequently, a police patrol team arrested the suspects and recovered the stolen GSM handset. Their taxis have been impounded and investigation is ongoing”.

Butswat urged members of the public to promptly report any criminal incident to the police command as it is poised to reduce crime to the barest minimum in the state.
