Tanker drivers protest in Niger, block major roads
Motorists in Bida town, Niger state are left stuck as tanker drivers have blocked all the major exits in the town thereby preventing vehicular movement from going in and out of the town.
The tanker drivers blocked all the major exits to protest the deplorable condition of the roads in the state especially the Bida-Lapai-Lambata Road.
Street urchins are said to be taking advantage of the situation to extort motorists with motorcyclists now being charged between N20 and N50 before they can access the minor roads left unblocked by the protesting drivers.
Passengers travelling who have cause to pass through Bida to link various states in the East, South, Northwest, Northeast and North Central have been left stranded.
Residents of the town therefore called on the state Governor, Alh Abubakar Sani Bello to as a matter of urgency intervene before the situation gets out of hand.
