Nigerian charismatic televangelist, Prophet Temitope Balogun Joshua, fondly christened Prophet, has been reported dead.
Peoples Gazette reported that family sources have confirmed the 57-year-old preacher’s death.
The founder of The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations (SCOAN), is reported to have died in Lagos on Saturday evening shortly after concluding a programme at his Church.
The report said an official statement was still being prepared.
A source at the Church, speaking on condition of anonymity, told WUZUPNIGERIA that those within the premises were mum on the preacher’s death.
The cause of his death was not known as of the time of filing this report.
But family sources were reported to have said his remains were deposited at a Lagos private morgue where an autopsy would be performed.
Emmanuel TV, run by Joshua’s SCOAN, is one of Nigeria’s largest Christian broadcast stations available worldwide via digital and terrestrial switches.
In 2014, his Church was under investigation when a section of his headquarters in Lagos collapsed, leaving dozens killed and many more injured.
TB Joshua denied allegations of negligence and a trial over the incident was still ongoing until his demise.
