A woman has been stoned to death by a militant Islamist group after she was tried and convicted of polyandry.

According to a BBC report, the incident happened in Somali.

The woman, one Shukri Abdullahi Warsame, was accused of marrying 11 husbands at different times without divorcing previous husbands.

The Islamist court, run by al-Shabab convicted her of polyandry.

She was buried neck-deep and pelted to death with stones by al-Shabab fighters in Sablale town in the Lower Shabelle region.
