Kano police arrest 18 street urchins over attack on residents
The Kano State Police Command has successfully apprehended 18 street urchins suspected of conspiring to launch unprovoked attacks on innocent members of the public.
The State Police Commissioner, Mr. Usaini Gumel, disclosed this development in an interview with newsmen in Kano on Monday.
Gumel provided insights into the operation, stating, “The suspects are members of an unlawful society poised to launch unprovoked attacks on innocent members of the public.” The arrests were carried out at various crime-prone locations, criminal hideouts, and black spots in the metropolis, including Mazaunar Tanko, Dandishe, Kofar Dan Agundi, Kofar Mata, and Filin Idi.
Other areas where the street urchins were apprehended include Kofar Na’Isa, Kwanar Diso, Kukar Bulukiya, and Dorayi Babba. During the spot raids, the police recovered dangerous weapons and some dry weeds suspected to be marijuana from the suspects.
The Police Commissioner assured the public that all the apprehended individuals would undergo thorough screening and profiling. Following the conclusion of investigations, they would be prosecuted in court. Gumel emphasized the commitment of the police to conduct more sting operations to ensure the ongoing safety of all residents in the state.
He stated, “More sting operations would be conducted to ensure that the state remains safe for all residents.”
