The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi state has expressed satisfaction with the decision of the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) declaring the governorship election in the state as ‘inconclusive’.

APC’s chairman in the state, Mr Uba Nana, stated the position of his party while speaking to newsmen in Bauchi on Monday.

“In respect to INEC’s decision declaring the governorship election as inconclusive, looking at it in the eyes of the law, that is how it ought to be.

“There is no problem with that at all because if you look at it, a whole local government election was cancelled because a lot of things went upside down,” he said.

The party chairman further said that the decision was quite in order, adding, “ we do not have any problem with the decision of INEC”

Nana further said it was not true that APC forced a returning officer to compromise the electoral process as alleged by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“Concerning this allegation, I call on the security agencies to investigate thoroughly and find out those behind such act.

“Whoever is found guilty should face the wrath of the law because we want the truth to be unveiled,” he said.

The governorship election in the state was declared inconclusive by the Returning Officer, Dr Mohammed  Kyari, who said election in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area and some polling units in other areas,  was marred by irregularities.

He further said that the difference between the total votes garnered by the two contending candidates was less than the total votes in the polling units cancelled, hence his decision to declare the outcome as inconclusive as specified by the law.

As at the time the outcome was declared inconclusive, incumbent governor Mohammed Abubakar of APC was trailing behind PDP candidate Bala Mohammed, with the former polling 465,453 votes and the latter garnering  469,512 votes, a difference of  4059 votes.
