JUST IN: Beninese court releases Igboho’s German wife, returns travel documents
Ropo Adeyemo, the German wife of Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Igboho, has been set free by the Cour De’appal De Cotonou, Benin Republic, where her husband is docked.
PMNews reported while the court adjourned the hearing till Friday (tomorrow) and remanded Sunday Igboho, the same court ordered his wife to be released from custody.
WuzupNigeria reported that the couple were arrested on Monday as they tried to board a flight for Germany in Cotonou.
Igboho was also arrested for being in possession of a Beninese passport despite not being a citizen.
It is not immediately clear if this was the same case heard by the court on Thursday or whether it was the extradition case.
Both husband and wife were brought to court today.
In a related development, SaharaReporters quoted an unnamed official as saying that the court also ruled that all travel documents of the wife and Igboho’s children seized from the duo should be returned to her.
“They just finished from the court. The wife is to be released this night and Sunday is to remain in custody. The matter was adjourned till Friday,” the official said.
