Human Rights lawyer, Ayo Sogunro, at the weekend said the reason the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP]  will continue to lose elections is their supporters.

Sogunro, a vocal critic of the policies and programmes of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration, said the party may eventually go into extinction if it and its supporters continue to act “s if Nigerians had no justifiable complaints for years.”

Describing the PDP and its supporters as spoilt brats, the lawyer said:

“PDP acts as if Nigerians cannot have a say on governance. As if Nigerians had no justifiable complaints for years. No. If you’re not praising GEJ or Atiku, then you must be “indirectly” supporting Buhari. This kind of entitlement nonsense is what will finally erase that party.

WuzupNaija reports that Sogunro’s damning verdict on the PDP was prompted by one of the party’s supporter, one Stanley Nwabia [@MrStanleyNwabia on Twitter, who tagged him as one of those who indirectly sold Buhari to Nigerians in 2015.

Sogunro had tweeted a photo of himself in an aeroplane with the caption;

“Thank you for the energy, Nigeria. I’ve done my share of nation building for now. Please enjoy Buhari’s govt. I’m now heading back to my principal place of assignment. “

Nwabia, a staunch supporter of the PDP, replied to him and said:

“Were you not part of the ‘Hintelleshuals’ that directly or indirectly sold Buhari to Nigerians in 2015? Just be going jare!”

Sogunro replied Nwabia saying:

“This is why APC keeps winning votes. Because you PDP people – for 8 years now – are still unable to distinguish between critics of PDP’s governance and supporters of Buhari and APC. And as long as this is the case, it means you have learned nothing from your mistakes.

“PDP acts as if Nigerians cannot have a say on governance. As if Nigerians had no justifiable complaints for years. No. If you’re not praising GEJ or Atiku, then you must be “indirectly” supporting Buhari. This kind of entitlement nonsense is what will finally erase that party.

“No questions like: What did we do wrong? How did we lose the trust of Nigerians? Nope, not for PDP. No introspection, no course correction. As far as they are concerned, Nigerians voted for APC in 2015 because Nigerians are stupid while PDP is holy and blameless.

“As if APC and Buhari did not merely capitalise on these grievances in strategising their campaign. No, PDP doesn’t care about all these obvious issues. Instead, like a spoiled brat, they’re just upset that they’ve been deprived of their play at power.

“What good was PDP in the last four years? Nothing. It is the same “indirect supporters” they are attacking that were acting as watchdogs on Buhari’s govt. PDP refuse to take correction but want Nigerians to return to them. They want forgiveness without redemption.

“I refrained from saying all these before the presidential elections so that this same silly PDP people won’t say I’m campaigning for Buhari. But, let me be clear now: PDP as a party is still useless. If APC clears all the states in March, I won’t shed a tear for PDP. End.”

In 2019, they are still here attacking neutral and non-partisan Nigerians for “indirectly” supporting Buhari in 2015.

As if the millions of people who went to vote in 2015 first came to take instructions from me, as if ordinary Nigerians had not been complaining for years.
