Nollywood star and philanthropist, Tonto Dikeh, has shared a distressing experience involving an online scam while preparing for her birthday celebration.

In a post on her Instagram page, the actress revealed she was defrauded while attempting to purchase mobile phones for a giveaway aimed at celebrating her special day with fans.

The mother of one, who recently reconnected with her long-lost sister, explained that she had paid for 12 phones from an online vendor but was subsequently blocked by the seller.

“I ordered 12 phones and paid for them, only to be blocked by the vendor,” she disclosed.

This was not the first time the movie star had fallen victim to online fraud.

In a previous incident, she recounted buying what she thought was hair from another vendor, only to receive three sponges in the package.

Dikeh admitted she initially kept quiet about the incident because of the significant amount of money involved, stating she was too ashamed to speak out.

“I was too ashamed to speak out loudly because the amount of money involved was huge,” she wrote.

Following the scam, she confided in a few trusted people and urged her followers to share their own stories of being duped by online vendors.

Now at 40, the actress and politician declared that she would not allow setbacks like this to disturb her peace.

Many of her fans responded in solidarity, recounting their own bitter experiences and tagging the scammers who had conned them out of their hard-earned money.
