Deladem Akpaki was elected as head of the National Olympic Committee of Togo (CNOT) at the weekend, PANA learned from sports sources on Monday in Lomé

Akpaki was the secretary-general of the outgoing board and now replaces Kélani Bayor who did not want to stand again.

Akpaki, who knows the CNOT well, defeated his challenger, Germain Wona, who is very popular in the world of soccer in Togo.

“During the next four years, the new president will have to prove his ability to be at the service of the sport rather than using sport,” said Lidi Bessi-Kama, Minister of Sports, referring to various crises that the Committee has gone through.
