TO BEAT LIVERPOOL! Man City’s Pep Guardiola has ‘a perfect’ six-point plan
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola reportedly plans to defeat runaway leaders, Liverpool, at the Etihad Stadium on Thursday using a six-point plan.
According to The Sun, Guardiola’s six-point plan include pressing Liverpool’s goalkeeper Alisson; Long balls forward by Ederson; High defensive line; Kevin De Bruyne taking corners and Danilo at Left Back and attack, attack, attack
Guardiola and his players are seven points adrift of the Premier League leaders. For them, the clash with Liverpool is a must win and Guardiola had suggested that Man city’s title defence will effectively be over should they lose this evening.
But The Sun, in a report, claims Guardiola has devised a six-point game plan to dismantle Liverpool’s flow and sees Alisson as a prime target.
Alisson leads the league’s clean sheets charts with 12, but Guardiola thinks the Brazilian is prone to panic when pressed. And the online news medium suggested that Guardiola wants two Man City players closing Alisson down whenever he has the ball at his feet.
The newspaper also suggested that Guardiola will jettison his play from back philosophy and have Man City’s goalkeeper, Ederson, hack the ball forward whenever possible to bypass Liverpool’s high press.
The defenders have also reportedly been ordered to play a high line, as Guardiola believes Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah have a tendency to stray offside.
Ederson will be tasked with taking care of Liverpool’s own balls over the top, and Guardiola thinks his own Brazilian goalkeeper is fully capable of snuffing out any dangerous plays.
Guardiola’s six-point plan
1. Press Alisson
2. Long balls
3. High defensive line
