Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage is set to release her new album, This One Is Personal, on August 29, marking her first full-length project since her 2020 hit album, Celia.

The new body of work carries a mix of afrobeats and soulful storytelling, with themes of pain, growth, and resilience. Savage said the album reflects her personal journey over the past five years and the experiences that shaped her.

“This project is very close to my heart,” she said during a live fan Q&A before the official announcement. “I went through so much in the last few years, and I wanted to make something honest. This is my story, told my way.”

Unlike her previous albums that featured multiple guest artists, This One Is Personal keeps collaborations to a minimum. British rapper Skepta and Nigerian rising star Taves are the only featured acts. “I wanted it to be raw and real,” Savage explained. “The few collaborations are with people who truly understand my vision for this album.”

Recorded in Nashville, London, and Lagos, the album captures both global and intimate sounds. Fans around the world have expressed excitement since the news dropped, with many sharing clips and comments on social media celebrating her return.

Music critic Tunde Adebayo said, “Tiwa’s ability to blend emotions with afrobeats sets her apart. This album could be her most defining work yet.”

Savage, often referred to as the “Queen of Afrobeats,” said this project is her way of reconnecting with her roots while showing her growth as an artist. “It’s personal, it’s me,” she added.
