Nigeria ready to play major roles at G-20 - Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu is set to swear in three new ministers today. These new additions will join his 48-person cabinet, bringing fresh faces to the government.

A senior official in the Presidency, who wished to remain anonymous, confirmed to the PUNCH that the swearing-in ceremony will take place in the Council Chamber of the State House before the Federal Executive Council meeting kicks off.

This FEC meeting marks the second since Tinubu’s inauguration as President on May 29, following a 48-day break. The previous meeting was held on August 28. On August 21, Tinubu had sworn in and inaugurated 45 ministers.

The three incoming ministers are Jamila Bio, Ayodele Olawande, and Balarabe Lawal, all hailing from Kaduna State. Bio is expected to be sworn in as the Minister of Youth, while Olawande will serve as the Minister of State for Youth.

Following a letter from President Tinubu, the Senate screened and confirmed these three additional ministers on October 4.

Notably, Balarabe Lawal replaces former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, whose ministerial nomination was rejected by the Senate. Lawal previously served as the Secretary to the Kaduna State Government during El-Rufai’s administration.

The FEC meeting is scheduled for 12 pm today, where all three ministers will take their oaths before the official proceedings begin.
