Tinubu to meet with UAE leadership to resolve diplomatic dispute

Nigerian President Bola Tinubu will meet with the leadership of the United Arab Emirates on Monday in a bid to resolve the diplomatic dispute between the two countries.
The dispute began in October 2022, when the UAE imposed a visa ban on Nigerians and suspended flights to Nigeria.
The UAE said the move was in response to Nigeria’s failure to repatriate billions of dollars in trapped funds.
Nigerian carrier, Air Peace, also suspended its flights to Dubai as the UAE stopped the issuance of visas to prospective travelers.
President Tinubu will be joined by the Minister for Aviation and Aerospace management, Festus Keyamo, SAN, at the meeting.
Keyamo confirmed that he travelled to the UAE on Sunday night and that officials of the two countries will meet by 5 pm on Monday.
“I am in Abu Dhabi to join Mr President to sort out the twin issues of Dubai visas and Emirates flights to Nigeria. Both leaders are meeting by 5 pm today,” Keyamo said.
Issues expected to be discussed include the visa ban, the suspension of flights, and other issues affecting relations between the two countries.
President Tinubu has said that he is committed to resolving the issue amicably and restoring the strong ties between Nigeria and the UAE.
