Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, has stated that despite his criticisms of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, he still considers it a preferable alternative to a government led by Atiku Abubakar.

Lawal made the remarks on Monday during a live appearance on Politics Today, a programme aired by Channels TV, where he compared the two political figures and their potential leadership styles.

According to the former SGF, while he has reservations about the current administration, he believes Tinubu would govern more effectively than Atiku. He argued that Nigeria would face greater challenges under the former vice president’s leadership.

“I said it that if it must be, therefore, a choice between Atiku and Tinubu, I believe that Bola Tinubu’s presidency, as bad as it is now on a comparative level, Tinubu would be an excellent President compared to what Atiku would plunge us into.

“When you are between the devil and the devil and you must go somewhere, what you therefore do is look for a lesser devil, because even in the satanic world, devils have categories,” he said.

Lawal’s latest comments come amid his ongoing criticism of Atiku. The former SGF recently parted ways with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), alleging that the party primary that produced Atiku as its candidate was heavily manipulated and lacked credibility.
