President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s determination to defeat banditry and terrorism across Nigeria.

He gave the assurance on Saturday while inaugurating the Gateway International Airport in Iperu, Ogun State, alongside several infrastructure projects.

Addressing attendees at the event, the President emphasized that his government would continue to prioritize security and human capital development.

“We will win over banditry and terrorism. I give you the assurance that we will invest more in our people,” Tinubu said.

He pointed to the visible deployment of security vehicles as evidence of the administration’s resolve to safeguard citizens and their property.

“The development of additional vehicles is strengthening our resolve to protect lives and property,” he said.

Tinubu also praised Nigerian youths for their resilience and contributions to national development, expressing optimism about the country’s future.

“Thank God for our youth. They are committed, brilliant and working hard. Nigeria, our country, is resolved to be great and is on the path of greatness once again,” he said.

Reports indicate that the commissioning ceremony, led by Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, had earlier been slated for Wednesday, April 2, but was rescheduled. The adjustment followed the President’s trip to Jos, Plateau State, where he sympathized with victims of a Palm Sunday attack. Gunmen had invaded the Angwan Rukuba area in Jos North Local Government Area on March 29, leaving at least 28 people dead and several others injured.

During the Iperu event, Tinubu described the airport as a significant milestone, noting its dedicated power supply system. “Today we have virtually commissioned the project. This airport is separately connected to independent power through our investments in gas and energy,” he said.

The President further expressed satisfaction with the range of projects unveiled, particularly those focused on transportation, security, and agriculture. “I am particularly pleased with the mobility, security and agricultural initiatives unveiled today,” Tinubu said.

Highlighting advancements in transport innovation, Tinubu cited the rollout of electric motorcycles as a forward-looking initiative. “The commissioning of 1,000 electric bikes is a smart response to modern transportation needs, embracing technology rather than fossil fuels to improve daily life,” he said.
