President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the Minister of Defence, the Chief of Defence Staff, the Service Chiefs, the Inspector-General of Police and the Director-General of the Department of State Services to track down and arrest those responsible for the attack on Kasuwan Daji community, insisting that the perpetrators must be swiftly brought to justice.
The President also instructed all security agencies to urgently rescue the victims abducted during the attack.
The directives were issued on Sunday following the killing of villagers in Niger State by terrorists believed to be fleeing from Sokoto and Zamfara states after the United States’ air strike on Christmas Eve.
President Tinubu condemned in strong terms the assault on Kasuwan Daji community and the abduction of women and children during the incident.
He extended his condolences to the families of those killed, as well as to the government and people of Niger State over the tragedy.
“These terrorists have tested the resolve of our country and its people. They must, therefore, face the full consequences of their criminal actions. No matter who they are or what their intent is, they must be hunted down. They, and all those who aid, abet, or enable them in any form, will be caught and brought to justice,” the President declared.
The President assured residents of Niger State that security agencies have been directed to step up operations in vulnerable communities, particularly those located near forests that have become hideouts for criminal elements.
He called on Nigerians to remain united and steadfast in the face of the tragedy, warning against divisive rhetoric that could weaken national security and social cohesion at a critical time.
“These times demand our humanity. We must stand together as one people and confront these monsters in unison. United, we can and must defeat them, deny them any sanctuary. We must reclaim the peace and security of these attacked communities,” President Tinubu said.
