Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has absolved President Bola Tinubu of any responsibility for the ongoing crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party, describing the party as already “dead.”
Fayose made the remarks on Wednesday during an appearance on Politics Today, a current affairs programme on Channels Television.
He insisted that Tinubu should not be blamed for the recent defections from the PDP, including those of Governors Peter Mbah of Enugu State and Douye Diri of Bayelsa State to the All Progressives Congress.
“It will be unfair to blame Tinubu for the recent defection of Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, and his Bayelsa State counterpart, Duoye Diri to the ruling All Progressives Congress APC,” he said.
The former governor, who served two terms, declared that he would not be among those attempting to revive the main opposition party, suggesting that its internal troubles are self-inflicted and far gone.
He further hinted that the remaining PDP governors may also be considering exits, signalling deepening cracks within the party’s ranks.
