President Bola Tinubu has nominated Bernard Mohammed Doro for a ministerial role in his cabinet, following the elevation of former minister Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda to the position of National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress.
The nomination was announced on Tuesday, October 21, in a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
According to the statement, Doro, an indigene of Plateau State, has been selected to fill the vacancy left by Yilwatda, who previously served as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction before emerging as APC chairman in July 2025.
Onanuga confirmed that President Tinubu has forwarded Doro’s name to the Senate for confirmation.
“Dr Doro’s nomination follows Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda’s election as the All Progressives Congress (APC) chairman in July. Yilwatda previously served as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction,” Onanuga stated.
He described Doro as a highly qualified professional with a strong background in healthcare and leadership.
“Born on January 23, 1969, in Kwall, Bassa LGA of Plateau State, Dr Doro has over 20 years of multidisciplinary experience in clinical practice, pharmaceutical management, strategic leadership, and community engagement in the UK and Nigeria,” he said.
Doro holds degrees in Pharmacy and Law, an MBA with a focus on IT-driven business strategy, and a Master’s in Advanced Clinical Practice.
An Independent Prescriber and Advanced Clinical Practitioner with hands-on experience in the UK’s National Health Service (NHS), Doro has worked across urgent care units, walk-in centres, GP practices, and hospitals. He is also known for his involvement in youth mentorship and social impact initiatives within Nigeria and the diaspora.
His nomination awaits Senate confirmation before he can officially join the federal cabinet.
