President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has named an Abuja road after Professor Wole Soyinka.

This announcement was made by the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to the President, Bayo Onanuga on his personal X page on Tuesday.

Onanuga stated that on the recommendation of the FCT administration, the president named the Arterial Road N20 from Northern Parkway to Outer Northern Expressway (ONEX) as Professor Wole Soyinka Highway to celebrate his upcoming 90th birthday in July.

The post reads, “President Tinubu has named the Arterial Road N20 from Northern Parkway to Outer Northern Expressway (ONEX) as Professor Wole Soyinka Highway as recommended by the FCT administration.

“In naming the road after the distinguished playwright, poet and novelist who clocks 90 on 13 July, President Tinubu said Soyinka was the first African to win the Nobel Literature Prize. He said Soyinka has brought honour and fame to Nigeria.”

Soyinka was awarded the 1986 Nobel Prize in Literature, the first sub-Saharan African to be honoured in that category.
