President Bola Tinubu has departed Lagos for Europe as part of his end-of-year break, ahead of an official visit to Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.
The President’s departure was confirmed on Sunday in a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
According to the statement, Tinubu will later proceed from Europe to Abu Dhabi at the invitation of the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Onanuga said the Nigerian leader is expected to participate in the 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week Summit, scheduled to hold in early January.
“The weeklong summit is an annual event that mobilises leaders from government, business and society to chart the next era of sustainable development,” the statement read.
He added that the summit, themed “The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go,” will focus on linking ambition with concrete action across innovation, finance and people.
“With the theme ‘The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go,’ ADSW will connect ambition with action across innovation, finance and people, showcasing how the world can move forward with confidence,” Onanuga said.
The presidency also confirmed that President Tinubu will return to Nigeria after the conclusion of the summit in Abu Dhabi.
