President Bola Tinubu has received a traditional chieftaincy title in Anambra State. He was given the title of ‘Dike si mba Anambra’, which means “Warrior from the Diaspora,” by the traditional rulers of the 179 communities in the state.
The event took place on Thursday at the Dr Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka during Tinubu’s one-day working visit to the state.
The title was conferred by the Chairman of the Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council, Igwe Chidubem Iweka, also known as Eze Iweka III of Obosi.
Speaking during the event, Igwe Iweka said, “This is a title from all the royal fathers in the 179 communities of Anambra State. It is in recognition of your good works across the country.
“We welcome you to Anambra, and we salute you for honouring our invitation. Your efforts in governance are positively impacting every nook and cranny of the country.
“With your efforts, we have seen critical infrastructure such as key roads that connect the Second Niger Bridge as well as other projects in our communities. May God continue to offer you more wisdom to steer the ship of governance.”
In his response, President Tinubu said he was grateful for the honour.
“I feel deeply honoured by the conferment of a chieftaincy title by the royal fathers of this state. Today is not only historic, but one which I will forever treasure for the rest of my life.
“Our diversity must lead to prosperity; we must work together to lead Nigeria. We must commit ourselves to the development of the country,” he said.
The President was in Anambra to commission several projects completed by Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration. These include the New State Government House, Governor’s Lodge, Solution Fun City, Emeka Anyaoku Institute for International Studies and Diplomacy, and projects at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.
Among those who attended the event were the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; Governors Dapo Abiodun of Ogun, Hope Uzodimma of Imo, Alex Otti of Abia, Peter Mbah of Enugu; and the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi.
