President Bola Tinubu is set to depart Abuja on Friday, July 18, for Kano State to offer condolences to the family of the late renowned businessman, Alhaji Aminu Dantata.

This was confirmed by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, via a statement shared on his official X handle.

Onanuga stated that the President would leave the capital city for Kano today.

Onanuga said, “President Tinubu will depart Abuja today for Kano to condole with the Kano State Government and the family of Alhaji Aminu Dantata, who passed away in Abu Dhabi, UAE, on June 28.”

He, however, did not specify when the President is expected to return to Abuja following the condolence visit.

Onanuga added, “President Tinubu was out of the country at the time of Dantata’s passing but directed some of his ministers, led by the Defence Minister, to attend the burial in Saudi Arabia as a mark of honour for the late nonagenarian.”

Alhaji Aminu Dantata, a respected industrialist and philanthropist, passed away at the age of 94 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. He was an uncle to Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote.

The late businessman was buried at the Al-Baqi Cemetery in Madina, Saudi Arabia, on July 1.

According to family sources, he was laid to rest beside his wife, fulfilling a personal request he had made before his passing.
