Tinubu forms economic advisory committee with Dangote, Otedola, others

In a bid to address socio-economic challenges in the nation, President Bola Tinubu has established an Economic Advisory Committee, comprising prominent private sector figures. Notable members include Aliko Dangote, Femi Otedola, Tony Elumelu, Innocent Chukwuma (Innoson), Abdul Samad Rabiu (BUA), among others.

The tripartite committee, consisting of 17 members from the Federal government, sub-nationals, and the private sector, was inaugurated in Abuja on Sunday.

President Tinubu emphasized the importance of examining potential strategies to tackle the current economic difficulties facing the country.

Tinubu expressed the government’s commitment to collaboration, stating, “Let’s look at what we’re doing right and what we’re doing wrong to bring life back to the economy.”

He highlighted the inclusive nature of the committee, aiming to address the concerns of various segments of society, from students to farmers.

The President reassured Nigerians of the government’s dedication to economic recovery, acknowledging the challenges ahead. He stated, “We are not saying that we have all the answers. But we will not be blamed for not trying.”

Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State stressed the need for collective contributions to Nigeria’s economic growth, emphasizing unity, determination, and patriotism.

Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun affirmed the governors’ commitment to collaborate with the President and provide interventions to mitigate the effects of reforms.

Abiodun assured Nigerians that the government at all levels would not leave them alone during challenging times, promising better times ahead. He mentioned state initiatives, such as bringing in rice and food items at affordable rates.

In attendance were notable figures such as Wale Edun, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy; Atiku Bagudu, Budget and National Planning Minister; Abubakar Kyari, Agriculture and Food Security Minister; and Mohammed Idris, Information and National Orientation Minister.

Private sector players present included Aliko Dangote, Abdul Samad Rabiu, Tony Elumelu, Wale Tinubu, Abdullabir Aliu, Bismarck Rewane, and Segun Ajayi-Kadir. Femi Otedola, although not physically present, was listed among the participants in the meeting.
