President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Mazi Afam Josiah Osigwe on his election as the President of the Nigerian Bar Association.
He also extended his congratulations to all newly elected officers of the NBA and its members on the successful conduct of the elections.
Osigwe emerged as the new NBA president after he secured 20,435 votes, defeating his closest rival, Chairman of the NBA-Institute of Continuing Legal Education Governing Council, Tobenna Erojikwe, who garnered 10,998 votes.
In a statement by his spokesman, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu praised the outgoing NBA President, Mr. Yakubu Chonoko Maikyau (SAN), for his leadership of Nigeria’s foremost legal association.
The President assured the new leadership of the NBA of his administration’s support. “We will support the new NBA leadership in addressing the challenges affecting the association and the legal profession in general,” Tinubu said.
