President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced a reward package for Nigeria’s senior women’s national football team, the Super Falcons, following their recent triumph at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
Each member of the team will receive a three-bedroom apartment, a cash reward of $100,000, and the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON).
The announcement was made on Monday afternoon at the Presidential Villa in Abuja during an official reception in honour of the team.
The gesture comes as part of the federal government’s recognition of the Falcons’ exceptional achievement, having secured Nigeria’s 10th WAFCON title with a remarkable 3-2 comeback victory over Morocco’s Atlas Lionesses.
President Tinubu praised the players for their determination, patriotism, and the inspiration they continue to provide to young Nigerians.
