President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Engr. Abdullahi Garba Ramat as the new Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, alongside two other key nominations within the agency.
The appointments were disclosed on Thursday in a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga. “Engr. Ramat, 39, is an electrical engineer and administrator, with a PhD in Strategic Management, among other qualifications,” the statement noted.
Also nominated are Mr. Abubakar Yusuf as Commissioner for Consumer Affairs and Dr. Fouad Olayinka Animashun as Commissioner for Finance and Management Services.
While the appointments are subject to confirmation by the Senate, President Tinubu has directed Engr. Ramat to assume office in an acting capacity to avoid any leadership gap at NERC pending the legislative process.
