Ahead of the national rollout of the Federal Government’s Ward Development Programme, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, as the Renewed Hope Ambassador.
A statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, notes that, in this capacity, Governor Uzodimma will also serve as the Director-General for Party Outreach, Engagement and Mobilisation.
With the appointment taking immediate effect, Uzodimma is expected to work closely with the leadership of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and state governors to promote the Tinubu administration’s agenda.
As the Renewed Hope Ambassador, and in his role as chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, Uzodimma will coordinate efforts to foster unity, inclusiveness and strategic alignment within the party.
He will further be involved in mobilisation and public engagement initiatives.
He will collaborate with APC governors, who will equally take on roles as Ambassadors of Hope.
President Tinubu expects Uzodimma and his fellow governors to champion the administration’s accomplishments and progress recorded since 2023, reinforcing the Renewed Hope message across the country.
Tinubu assumed office in May 2023 with a reform-driven agenda that has begun to show positive effects on the national economy.
Inflation, previously a major concern, has reportedly eased for the seventh consecutive month to 16.05 per cent in October. The exchange rate has seen renewed stability, while foreign exchange reserves have risen to more than $46 billion this month—an increase from $32 billion and the net reserve position of $4 billion inherited in 2023.
Investor confidence has returned, with both Foreign Direct Investment and portfolio inflows improving, particularly within the oil and gas sector.
The stock market is experiencing an unprecedented surge. Economic diversification efforts are also gaining momentum, with solid minerals becoming increasingly central. More than 700,000 students have benefitted from the government’s liberalised educational loan scheme, and the waiting period for travel passports has been reduced to under one week.
In his message to the Renewed Hope Ambassador, President Tinubu urged Governor Uzodimma to ensure Nigerians “are aware of and understand the administration’s achievements.”
