National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu in a notable address at the 19th Annual Nigerian Editors Conference in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, underscored the significant improvements in security across the country since President Bola Ahmed Tinubu assumed office.

According to Daily Trust, he emphasized the administration’s focus on delivering tangible results rather than engaging in excessive public announcements.

Ribadu acknowledged the challenges inherited by the current administration, including militancy in the Niger Delta and insecurity in the South East.

However, he pointed to substantial progress in addressing these issues, particularly in the Niger Delta, where oil production has increased from 1.1 million barrels per day to over 1.7 million barrels per day.

We have witnessed three weeks without any incident of security challenge in the Niger Delta,” Ribadu stated, emphasizing the unprecedented nature of this achievement since 1993.

He also highlighted the decline in attacks on police stations in the South East, with not a single incident recorded since the administration took office.

In the South East, when we took over last year we had 46 police stations attacked, today we don’t have one single one.

“In the last two months, not a single person had been killed through violent attack in the south east, we don’t talk. The leadership we have in our country do understand things a bit better. Work more, talk less,” he stated.

While acknowledging the progress made, Ribadu stressed the need for continued vigilance and collaboration to address remaining security challenges. He reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to prioritizing the welfare of its citizens and ensuring transparency in governance.
