The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed that popular TikTok creator Habeeb Hamzat, known as Peller, is safe after reports claimed he was kidnapped during a livestream on Wednesday night.
Police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin said during an interview on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief on Thursday that checks showed Peller was at home and unharmed.
“We are investigating the allegation, but we can confirm that the person in question, Habeeb, popularly known as Peller, is at home safe and sound,” Hundeyin said.
He added that there was no sign of violence or theft. “His vehicle is also intact, all his phones and properties, nothing was missing,” he stated.
The police said they are still reviewing the incident to determine whether it was a real abduction, a staged event, or a false alarm.
“That is what we are investigating. All his properties were intact, and there was no violence whatsoever,” Hundeyin said.
The 20-year-old content creator was reportedly taken by armed men while livestreaming on TikTok. Clips circulating online showed him appearing to think the men were security operatives before being led away.
Peller, who gained fame in 2021 for his short videos and live interactions on TikTok, has grown his online presence to streaming shows and events on Twitch.
