Lindsey Vonn had some shocking news for her Instagram followers on Tuesday.
The 36-year-old Olympic skier shared that she has split with her fiance, pro hockey player PK Subban, after three years together.
“After much consideration, we have decided to move forward separately,” Vonn said in a statement she posted to social media, accompanied by a photo of her and Subban in a happy pose.
“We will always remain friends and love each other immensely.We ask that you please respect our privacy during this time.”
Subban used the same image, and much of the same language, in a post he shared around the same time Tuesday afternoon, and he added:
“Lindsey is one of the most kind and caring people I know. I will always treasure our time as a couple together and the many laughs we shared.”
When she co-hosted of the 2020 Sports Illustrated Awards on December 20, the star looked stunning in a red dress but there was no sign of Subban. She did have on her engagement ring, however. They were last seen together on her Instagram account in October.
In October she said their wedding plans were on hold. ‘We are in a holding pattern,’ said the star.
Vonn dated golf living legend, Tiger Woods. The duo dated for nearly three years before breaking up in 2015.
Speaking of Woods in 2018, Vonn had said:
“I loved him and we’re still friends. Sometimes, I wish he would have listened to me a little more.
“But he’s very stubborn and he likes to go his own way.”
