Tiger Lager Beer has unveiled a ₦10 million prize pool for its Tiger Street Football Tournament, which is set to take place on Saturday at NewBerris Lounge in Awka, Anambra State.

Mrs. Maria Shaddeko, Portfolio Manager of the Tiger Premium Brand, made the announcement during a media briefing with members of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, Anambra Chapter.

“The stakes are high and exciting. The winning team will receive N5 million, while N3 million, N1 million, and N1 million have been set aside for the second, third and fourth positions respectively,” she said.

Shaddeko also disclosed the semi-final pairings in the 5-a-side competition, noting that Sunday Sparks will face Peace Warriors, while Peace Dominion will play against Peace Ambassadors.

She explained that the maiden edition of the tournament is designed to “unleash the fearless and uncaged energy of young, non-professional footballers,” while celebrating their raw passion and love for the game.

According to her, the Tiger Street Football Tournament, sponsored by Tiger Premium Lager, seeks to discover and nurture emerging football talents from local communities.

She added that the competition aims to provide participants with a platform to hone their skills and share their stories beyond the pitch. “The tournament is open to non-professional players — students, amateurs, hustlers, dreamers and Sunday-Sunday entertainers, anyone who plays the game out of pure love,” she said.

Shaddeko further noted that beyond the competition and prizes, the event would feature entertainment, cultural showcases, and tourism experiences, making it a vibrant celebration of street football culture.
