Hoodlums launched an attack on the residence of a Social Democratic Party chieftain, Abdul Yusuf Amichi, also known as Abdul Limbo, in Ugwolawo, which serves as the headquarters of Ofu local government area in Kogi State.
The yet-to-be-identified hoodlums reportedly set the party chieftain’s vehicle ablaze during the attack, according to Daily Trust.
Eyewitnesses revealed that the hoodlums carried out their assault late in the evening, around 11 p.m., and continued until the early hours of the following day.
“They have burnt an SDP campaign vehicle and vandalized a house of an SDP supporter, Abdul Yusuf Amichi in ward 1 at Ugwolawo,” a resident named Abu Alijenu reported.
According to the victim, the hoodlums arrived at his house during the night and began firing shots indiscriminately. During the course of the attack, they set fire to the party’s official vehicle, damaged Limbo’s personal car, and made off with his valuables, including a generator.
“I have reported the incident to the police,” he confirmed.
The Director-General of SDP’s campaign, Sheik Ibrahim Jibrin, visited the scene of the incident and condemned the act.
As of the time of reporting, the Police Public Relations Officer in Kogi, SP William Aya, had not responded to calls and texts regarding the matter.
