Three people died on Monday in a tragic accident when a truck lost its brakes and crashed into the Ayetoro Market in Lagos.

According to the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, the incident occurred as the truck descended from Ita-Opo, colliding first with a commercial tricycle and a parked Toyota Camry before ramming into the busy market.

LASTMA shared details on its X (formerly Twitter) account, confirming that the deceased had been taken to the Epe General Hospital morgue. “Three lives were lost, and they’ve been taken to the morgue at Epe General Hospital,” LASTMA stated.

A tow truck was also dispatched to remove the damaged vehicles from the scene.
