Three inmates flee correctional center in Ogun

Three inmates serving various sentences at the Nigeria Correctional Service facility in Ijebu-Ode have successfully escaped from prison. 

NCS Public Relations Officer, Victor Oyeleke, officially confirmed this development during a briefing in Abeokuta on Tuesday.

The escapees have been identified as Hammed Adeboyejo, Fatai Akande, and Aliu Oguntona, and the incident took place in the early hours of Saturday around 3:00 am. 

Oyeleke assured the public that efforts were underway to locate and apprehend the escaped inmates. 

A dedicated search party has been formed, utilizing biometric data and family contacts to aid in their swift recapture.

“It happened early hours of Saturday morning around 3am. A search party to bring the three of them back has been raised. We have their biometrics and we have contacts of their families. We are working together with other sister agencies and in good time they will be brought back,” he said.

Adeboyejo, one of the escapees, had been serving a sentence for armed robbery and murder, while Akande and Oguntona were convicted of murder and sexual offenses, respectively. 

Oyeleke emphasized the collaboration with other law enforcement agencies in the search operation, expressing confidence that the escapees will be apprehended and returned to the correctional facility in due course.
