The Kano State Police have arrested three suspects in the murder of Dahiru Musa, a 32-year-old man from Dorayi Quarters.

The suspects are accused of killing Musa over a land transaction.

According to the police, the suspects lured Musa under false pretenses, poisoned him, and then burned his body to hide their crime. This was confirmed by the police spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna.

Haruna said, “The suspects are Aliyu Adamu, 22; Mubarak Abdulsalam, 20; and Sadiq Sunusi, 19. They are currently in police custody.”

On September 29, 2024, a family member reported that Musa was missing. The brother suspected Adamu, who had been the last person to contact Musa. Following this, police arrested Adamu the next day. During questioning, he admitted to working with Abdulsalam to trick Musa into coming to his house to discuss a land deal.

Haruna explained, “They offered him poisoned food, and when he became unconscious, they stabbed him to death. The body was wrapped in a sack and dumped in an uncompleted building near Adamu’s home.”

The police said the motive for the murder was to take over Musa’s land. Adamu had obtained Musa’s land documents and planned to claim the property after killing him.

After Adamu’s arrest, Abdulsalam and Sunusi tried to destroy evidence by burning Musa’s body with petrol. The charred remains were later found and taken to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital for an autopsy.

Commissioner of Police Salman Garba praised the public for their help in this case. He urged people to be careful when making deals, especially in isolated places. Garba said, “We commend the public for their cooperation and assistance. People must exercise caution when conducting business with individuals they do not fully trust, particularly in isolated areas.”

The three suspects are being held at the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department and will face charges in court after the investigation is complete.
